  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 12 drops pink food coloring
  • For the Frosting:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 drops pink food coloring
  • For Decoration:
  • Sprinkles (optional)
  • Edible glitter (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.
  5. Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the flour. Mix until just combined.
  6. Add pink food coloring and mix until the batter reaches your desired shade of pink.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. For the frosting: Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, then mix in heavy cream and vanilla extract until smooth. Add pink food coloring and mix well.
  11. Spread frosting evenly over the cooled cake. Decorate with sprinkles or edible glitter if desired.
  12. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

For a deeper pink color, add more food coloring. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
