For the Crust:

  • 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Combine apples and water in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until apples are soft, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Mash apples with a fork or potato masher to desired consistency.
  3. Stir in butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Serve warm as a side or dessert.
