- 7 large granny smith apples, peeled, cored, cut in 1/2-inch slices
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup lightly packed brown sugar
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Zest from 1/2 a lemon
- 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 2 tbsp sanding sugar, if desired
