Description
A warm, gooey bread bowl filled with melted cheese, spicy jalapeños, and served with a rich marinara sauce for dipping.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large round loaf of bread (sourdough or Italian)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 2–3 fresh jalapeños, thinly sliced (seeds removed for less heat)
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup marinara sauce, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut a circle in the top of the bread loaf and remove the top. Hollow out the inside, leaving a 1/2-inch thick shell. Reserve removed bread for dipping.
- In a medium bowl, mix together mozzarella, cheddar, cream cheese, jalapeños, cilantro, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Spoon the cheese mixture into the hollowed bread loaf, pressing gently.
- Place the filled bread loaf on a baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bread is golden.
- Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
For extra heat, leave seeds in the jalapeños. You can also add cooked crumbled bacon or sausage for a heartier version.
