These cheesy garlic biscuits are soft, buttery, and loaded with gooey cheese. Served with a warm marinara dipping sauce, they make the perfect appetizer or side dish.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- For the garlic butter topping:
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- For the marinara sauce:
- 1 (15-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder.
- Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or two forks until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in shredded cheddar cheese and parsley.
- Add milk and stir just until dough comes together. Do not overmix.
- Drop dough by rounded spoonfuls onto prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
- Meanwhile, prepare garlic butter: In a small bowl, combine melted butter, garlic powder, and salt.
- Brush biscuits with garlic butter immediately after removing from oven.
- For marinara sauce: In a small saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Add crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Serve biscuits warm with marinara dipping sauce.
Notes
For extra flavor, add 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese to the biscuit dough. Biscuits are best served fresh, but can be reheated in a 350°F oven for 5 minutes.
