A quick and savory stir-fry with tender beef, onions, and mushrooms served over rice, perfect for a busy weeknight dinner.

- 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1/4 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked rice for serving
- Sliced green onions for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine beef slices, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Toss to coat and let marinate for 10 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add beef and stir-fry until browned, about 2 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- Add remaining oil to the skillet. Add onion and mushrooms; stir-fry until softened and lightly browned, about 4 minutes.
- Add garlic and ginger; cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Return beef to the skillet. Pour in beef broth and brown sugar; stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens slightly. Season with salt and pepper.
- Serve immediately over cooked rice, garnished with sliced green onions.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a splash of sesame oil before serving. You can substitute beef with chicken or tofu if desired.
