Description
Sweet and savory sliders with ham, Swiss cheese, and a caramelized pineapple-onion topping, brushed with BBQ glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 slider buns (such as Hawaiian rolls)
- 1 lb thinly sliced deli ham
- 6 slices Swiss cheese, halved
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup fresh pineapple, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and cook the sliced onion until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add chopped pineapple, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar to the skillet. Cook, stirring frequently, until caramelized, about 8–10 minutes. Set aside.
- Slice the slider buns in half horizontally and place the bottom halves in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Layer the ham evenly over the bottom buns, then top with the halved Swiss cheese slices.
- Spread the caramelized pineapple-onion mixture over the cheese.
- Place the top buns on the sliders.
- In a small bowl, mix the BBQ sauce, melted butter, garlic powder, and Dijon mustard. Brush the mixture over the tops of the buns.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden.
- Serve warm.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add a dash of hot sauce to the BBQ glaze. Sliders can be assembled ahead and baked just before serving.
