Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup diced pancetta
- 1 pound sweet Italian sausage, casings removed
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
- 8 ounces burrata cheese, torn into pieces
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook ziti according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add pancetta and cook until crispy, about 5 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
- Add sausage to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned and cooked through.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine cooked ziti, ricotta, Parmesan, basil, and the cooked pancetta. Pour the sauce over the ziti mixture and toss to combine.
- Transfer half the mixture to a 9×13-inch baking dish. Top with half the burrata and half the mozzarella. Add remaining ziti mixture, then top with remaining burrata and mozzarella.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden on top. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra richness, add an additional 1/2 cup of cream to the sauce. Burrata can be substituted with fresh mozzarella if unavailable.
