Air Fryer Onion Rings

  • Author: Chef Crispy

Description

These air fryer onion rings are perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a fraction of the oil used in deep frying. A quick and easy snack or side dish that everyone will love!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • For the onion rings:
  • 1 large sweet onion
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • For serving (optional):
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. 1. Slice the onion into 1/2-inch thick rings and separate them.
  2. 2. In a shallow bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. 3. In another bowl, whisk eggs and milk together.
  4. 4. Place panko breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  5. 5. Dredge each onion ring in the flour mixture, then dip in the egg mixture, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  6. 6. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  7. 7. Place onion rings in a single layer in the air fryer basket (work in batches if needed).
  8. 8. Lightly spray with cooking oil for extra crispiness.
  9. 9. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and crispy.
  10. 10. Serve immediately with ketchup or ranch dressing.

Notes

For best results, do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. If your onion rings aren’t crispy enough, try air frying for an additional 1-2 minutes. You can use regular breadcrumbs if panko isn’t available, but panko gives the crispiest texture.
