For the Crust:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 12 soft caramel candies
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fill cupcake liners halfway with batter. Place a caramel candy in the center of each and sprinkle with sea salt.
- Cover each caramel with more batter until liners are 3/4 full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes until edges are set but centers are still soft.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving warm.
