Creamy layers of potatoes baked with cheese and cream for a comforting side dish.
Ingredients

- 2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the dish. Top with half of the onions, garlic, salt, pepper, and cheese.
- Pour half of the heavy cream over the layers. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, onions, garlic, salt, pepper, and cheese.
- Pour the remaining heavy cream over the top layer. Dot with butter.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a crispier top, broil for the last 2-3 minutes. Use fresh garlic for the best flavor.
