Description

Creamy layers of potatoes baked with cheese and cream for a comforting side dish.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the dish. Top with half of the onions, garlic, salt, pepper, and cheese.
  3. Pour half of the heavy cream over the layers. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, onions, garlic, salt, pepper, and cheese.
  4. Pour the remaining heavy cream over the top layer. Dot with butter.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  6. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a crispier top, broil for the last 2-3 minutes. Use fresh garlic for the best flavor.
