Description

A classic holiday side dish featuring fresh green beans, creamy mushroom sauce, and crispy fried onions.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed and halved
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 dash black pepper
  • 1 1/3 cups fried onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook green beans in boiling water for 5 minutes; drain.
  3. In a large bowl, mix soup, milk, soy sauce, and pepper. Stir in beans and 1/2 cup fried onions.
  4. Transfer mixture to a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes, then top with remaining fried onions and bake for 5 more minutes.

Notes

For a crunchier topping, add extra fried onions. This dish can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight.
