- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- For the Avocado Crema:
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Salt to taste
- For the Tacos:
- 8 small corn tortillas
- 1 cup shredded purple cabbage
- 1/2 cup diced red onion
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- Lime wedges for serving
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- 1. In a bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, smoked paprika, cumin, garlic powder, cayenne, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
- 2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove from heat.
- 3. For the avocado crema, blend avocado, sour cream, lime juice, garlic, and salt in a food processor until smooth. Adjust seasoning if needed.
- 4. Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until pliable.
- 5. Assemble the tacos: Spread a spoonful of avocado crema on each tortilla, top with shrimp, shredded cabbage, red onion, and cilantro.
- 6. Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.
Notes
For extra heat, add sliced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce. If making ahead, store the avocado crema with plastic wrap pressed directly on the surface to prevent browning.
