Description

A smoky and flavorful Southern-style fried cabbage dish that’s easy to make and perfect as a side.


Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 medium head cabbage, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp; remove and crumble, reserving the grease.
  2. In the same skillet, add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add chopped cabbage to the skillet and stir to coat with the grease.
  4. Cook cabbage until tender, about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir in the crumbled bacon and smoked paprika; season with salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

For extra smokiness, use hickory-smoked bacon. This pairs well with grilled meats.
