Description

Delicious soft and chewy gingerbread cookies perfect for holidays.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and molasses until creamy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat until combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  5. Divide the dough in half, wrap in plastic, and chill for at least 1 hour.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. On a floured surface, roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Cut out gingerbread men shapes and place on baking sheets.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
  10. Let cool on wire racks.

Notes

These cookies are best enjoyed with a glass of milk.
