Description

These sweet and savory carrots are cooked slowly with maple syrup and brown sugar for a perfect glazed side dish.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice the carrots, then place them in the slow cooker.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the maple syrup, brown sugar, butter, salt, pepper, and water until well combined.
  3. Pour the mixture over the carrots in the slow cooker and stir to coat.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours, or until carrots are tender.
  5. Stir once halfway through cooking for even glazing.
  6. Serve warm as a side dish.

Notes

For a healthier version, reduce the sugar by half; store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
