Sausage Biscuit Breakfast Bake

  • Author: The Breakfast Enthusiast

Description

A hearty, savory breakfast casserole featuring flaky biscuits, savory sausage, eggs, and cheese. Perfect for feeding a crowd or meal prepping for busy mornings.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • For the casserole base:
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage (mild or hot)
  • 1 (16.3 oz) can refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • For the cheese mixture:
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • For seasoning:
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • For garnish (optional):
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. 2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook sausage until browned, breaking it into crumbles. Drain excess fat and set aside.
  3. 3. Cut each biscuit into 8 pieces and arrange evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  4. 4. Sprinkle cooked sausage over the biscuit pieces.
  5. 5. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
  6. 6. Pour egg mixture evenly over the biscuits and sausage.
  7. 7. Sprinkle both cheeses evenly over the top.
  8. 8. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until eggs are set and top is golden brown.
  9. 9. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley and green onions if desired.

Notes

• For a lighter version, use turkey sausage and reduced-fat cheese. • Can be assembled the night before – cover and refrigerate, then bake in the morning (may need 5-10 extra minutes baking time). • Leftovers reheat well in microwave for 30-60 seconds.
