- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 6 cups powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

- Red and green sprinkles
- Candy canes
- Fondant or gumdrops for decorations
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 8-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
- In another bowl, mix oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, vinegar, and vanilla.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients, mixing until smooth. Divide batter among pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool completely.
- For frosting: Beat butter and cream cheese until fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla.
- Stack cakes with frosting between layers. Frost the outside.
- Shape into a Christmas tree by tapering each layer.
- Decorate with sprinkles, candy canes, and fondant ornaments.
Notes
Ensure cakes are completely cool before frosting to avoid melting. Store in refrigerator for up to 3 days.
