Liverwurst Party Ball

  • Author: Party Appetizer Queen

Description

A retro-inspired party appetizer that’s surprisingly delicious! This creamy liverwurst ball is packed with flavor from onions, spices, and cream cheese, perfect for spreading on crackers or crusty bread.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • For the liverwurst mixture:
  • 1 lb liverwurst (room temperature)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 small yellow onion (finely grated)
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • For the coating:
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley (minced)
  • 1/4 cup crispy fried onions (crushed)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. 1. In a large bowl, combine liverwurst, cream cheese, grated onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Mix until completely smooth (use hand mixer for best results).
  2. 2. Lay out a large piece of plastic wrap. Transfer mixture to center and shape into a ball, wrapping tightly. Chill for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  3. 3. Before serving, combine coating ingredients on a plate. Unwrap chilled ball and roll in coating mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. 4. Transfer to serving plate surrounded by crackers, bread slices, and veggie sticks. Keep chilled until ready to serve.

Notes

For smoother texture, push liverwurst through a sieve before mixing. Can substitute walnuts for pecans. Make up to 2 days ahead – flavors improve with time!
