Description

A simple make-ahead cranberry sauce recipe from Ina Garten, perfect for holidays, combining fresh cranberries with sugar and citrus for a tangy, sweet condiment.

Ingredients

Scale
  • One 12-ounce bag fresh cranberries
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 1 cup crushed pineapple, drained
  • Zest and juice of 2 oranges
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, sugar, apple, pineapple, orange zest, orange juice, and cinnamon stick.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the cranberries have burst and the sauce has thickened.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
  4. Transfer to a bowl, cover, and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

This sauce can be made up to a week in advance and stored in the refrigerator. Stir before serving if needed.
