Ingredients
Scale
For the Crust:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3 minutes.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Stir in minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add orzo pasta and crushed tomatoes, stirring to combine. Pour in 1 cup of water and bring to a simmer.
- Cover and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender and liquid is mostly absorbed.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in heavy cream. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
- Remove from heat and stir in Parmesan cheese. Serve warm.
