Grandma’s Strawberry Pretzel Salad

  • Author: Family Recipe

Description

A nostalgic layered dessert with a salty-sweet pretzel crust, creamy filling, and fresh strawberry topping. Perfect for potlucks and family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • For the crust:
  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • For the filling:
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 (8 oz) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • For the topping:
  • 2 (3 oz) packages strawberry gelatin
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 (10 oz) packages frozen strawberries
  • 1 (8 oz) can crushed pineapple, drained (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Make the crust: Mix crushed pretzels, melted butter, and 3 tbsp sugar. Press into a 9×13-inch baking dish. Bake for 10 minutes. Cool completely.
  3. Make the filling: Beat cream cheese and 1 cup sugar until smooth. Fold in whipped topping. Spread over cooled crust. Refrigerate.
  4. Make the topping: Dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Stir in frozen strawberries (and pineapple if using). Chill until slightly thickened (20-30 min).
  5. Pour gelatin mixture over cream cheese layer. Refrigerate 4+ hours or until fully set.

Notes

For a firmer crust, bake an extra 2-3 minutes. Fresh strawberries can replace frozen—add 1/4 cup sugar to gelatin mixture if using fresh.
