Description

A festive and savory wreath featuring figs, goat cheese, and pistachios, perfect for holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 package (2-1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 31/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • For the filling:
  • 8 ounces goat cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup chopped dried figs
  • 1/2 cup chopped pistachios
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • For the egg wash:
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in milk, eggs, and salt. Stir in yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually add flour to form a soft dough. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  5. Punch down dough and roll into a 15×12 inch rectangle.
  6. Spread goat cheese evenly. Sprinkle with figs, pistachios, honey, and thyme.
  7. Roll up from long side and seal edge. Form into a wreath shape.
  8. Place on a greased baking sheet. Brush with egg wash.
  9. Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes until golden. Cool before serving.

Notes

This wreath can be prepared ahead and refrigerated. Ensure yeast is fresh for best rise.
