For the Crust:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a bowl, mix diced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
- Alternately add flour mixture and milk to butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Fold in half the apple mixture.
- Pour half the batter into pan. Top with remaining apples, then remaining batter. Swirl gently with a knife.
- Bake 50-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack.
- Whisk powdered sugar and milk for glaze. Drizzle over cooled bread before serving.
