Description

A creamy and cheesy baked dish made with sweet potatoes, perfect for holiday meals.


Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream, garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg over medium heat until it simmers.
  3. Layer half of the sweet potato slices in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle with half of the cheddar cheese.
  5. Add the remaining sweet potato slices and pour the rest of the cream mixture on top.
  6. Dot with butter and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and potatoes are tender.
  9. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

This dish pairs well with roasted turkey or ham. For a healthier version, substitute heavy cream with almond milk.
