Description

A sweet and salty snack made with crackers coated in homemade caramel and topped with sea salt.


Ingredients

  • 1 sleeve saltine crackers
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, plus extra for sprinkling
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together, stirring constantly until it boils.
  4. Let the mixture boil for 3 minutes without stirring, then remove from heat.
  5. Pour the caramel mixture evenly over the crackers and spread if needed.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with chocolate chips, and let them melt for 2 minutes.
  8. Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the caramel layer and sprinkle with sea salt.
  9. Allow to cool completely, then break into pieces and serve.

Notes

For best results, store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
