Description

A simple and flavorful one-pan dish featuring tender chicken simmered in a rich tomato sauce with Italian herbs.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Return chicken to the skillet, spooning sauce over the top. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes until chicken is cooked through.
  6. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
