For the Crust:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup finely chopped apple
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  4. Gradually stir dry ingredients into wet mixture until just combined. Fold in chopped apple and walnuts if using.
  5. Spread batter evenly into prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
  6. For frosting, whisk powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and cinnamon until smooth. Spread over cooled blondies. Let set before slicing.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
