For the Crust:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and sauté until translucent, about 3 minutes.
- Add garlic, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Stir in orzo pasta, crushed tomatoes, and beef broth. Bring to a simmer.
- Cover and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until orzo is tender and liquid is absorbed.
- Reduce heat to low, stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve warm, garnished with extra Parmesan if desired.
