Description

A comforting dish featuring layers of potatoes baked with caramelized onions and cheese.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds potatoes, sliced
  • 3 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt butter and cook onions until caramelized, about 15 minutes.
  3. Layer sliced potatoes in a baking dish, then add a layer of caramelized onions.
  4. Pour beef broth over the layers and top with shredded cheese.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute beef broth with vegetable broth.
