For the Crust:
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Steam the broccoli florets until tender but still crisp, about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute until bubbly.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Add garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the cheese sauce over the steamed broccoli and toss gently to coat. Serve immediately.
