For the Crust:
- 4 medium apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 2 tablespoons butter, cubed
- 4 sheets aluminum foil
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
- Divide the apple mixture evenly among the four sheets of aluminum foil.
- Sprinkle each portion with rolled oats and top with cubed butter.
- Fold the foil over the apple mixture and seal the edges tightly to create packets.
- Place the packets over a campfire or grill and cook for about 20-25 minutes, or until the apples are tender.
- Carefully open the packets (watch for steam) and serve warm.
