Description

A creamy and flavorful Indian dish made with tender chicken in a spiced tomato and butter sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 kg boneless chicken thighs, cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 can (400g) tomato puree
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken pieces in yogurt, garlic, ginger, turmeric, chili powder, cumin, and salt for 30 minutes.
  2. In a large pan, melt butter over medium heat and sauté onions until golden brown.
  3. Add the marinated chicken to the pan and cook until the chicken is browned on all sides.
  4. Stir in the tomato puree and garam masala, then simmer for 20 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Add heavy cream and cook for another 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.

Notes

For a spicier version, increase the chili powder. Pairs well with rice or naan bread.
