Description

These baked apple fritters are a healthier twist on the classic fried version, combining fresh apples with a light batter and baking them to golden perfection for a crispy, sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter until well combined.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, then gently fold in the diced apples.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the fritters are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

For a crunchier texture, sprinkle with a little extra cinnamon sugar after baking. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
