These baked apple fritters are a healthier twist on the classic fried version, combining fresh apples with a light batter and baking them to golden perfection for a crispy, sweet treat.

- 2 cups peeled and diced apples
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter until well combined.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, then gently fold in the diced apples.
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the fritters are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
For a crunchier texture, sprinkle with a little extra cinnamon sugar after baking. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
