Ingredients

  • 8 oz rigatoni pasta
  • 1 lb Italian sausage, mild or spicy
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the rigatoni pasta according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the Italian sausage over medium heat until fully cooked; drain excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet; sauté until softened.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes and heavy cream; simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat evenly.
  6. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

For a spicier version, use hot Italian sausage. Pair with garlic bread.
