- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (10-ounce) can diced tomatoes with green chilies
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 pound Velveeta cheese, cubed
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped jalapenos
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes with green chilies, cream cheese, and Velveeta cheese until melted and combined.
- Add chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper, stirring well.
- If desired, mix in chopped jalapenos for extra heat.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve warm with tortilla chips.
Notes
For a milder version, use regular diced tomatoes instead of those with green chilies. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
