A hearty and savory pie filled with seasoned ground beef, Italian sausage, and vegetables in a rich gravy, all encased in a flaky pastry crust.

For the Crust:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 package (14 oz) refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large skillet, brown ground beef and sausage over medium heat, breaking into crumbles. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add diced onion and garlic to the skillet; cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in frozen vegetables and cook for 2 more minutes.
  3. Sprinkle flour over the meat mixture and stir to coat. Gradually add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly until gravy thickens. Season with thyme, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat.
  4. Line a 9-inch pie dish with one pie crust. Spoon the filling into the crust. Top with the second crust, crimping edges to seal. Cut slits in the top crust and brush with beaten egg.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until crust is golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
