Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • For the fritters:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced (about 2 cups)
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • For the glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp whole milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. 1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. 2. In another bowl, beat eggs, then mix in milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. 3. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in diced apples.
  4. 4. Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. 5. Drop heaping tablespoons of batter into hot oil, frying 3-4 fritters at a time (don’t overcrowd).
  6. 6. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  7. 7. For glaze: Whisk all glaze ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over warm fritters.
  8. 8. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

For best results, use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. Fritters are best eaten the same day. Reheat in a 350°F oven for 5 minutes if needed.
