For the Crust:

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- For the cinnamon sugar topping:
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Alternately add the flour mixture and buttermilk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the bread bakes, mix together sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl for the topping.
- Once baked, let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Brush the warm bread with melted butter and generously coat with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg to the dry ingredients. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
