- 1 prepared sponge cake (9 inch), cut into cubes
- 2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
- 2 cups raspberries
- 1 cup blueberries
- 4 cups prepared custard
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream, whipped
- 2 tablespoons sherry or fruit juice (optional)
- Chopped nuts or chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the fruits: Rinse and slice the strawberries, then toss with raspberries and blueberries. Add a splash of sherry or fruit juice if using.
- Layer the trifle in a large glass dish: Start with half the cake cubes at the bottom.
- Pour half the custard over the cake, then add half the fruit mixture.
- Repeat layers: Add the remaining cake, custard, and fruits on top.
- Spread whipped cream over the top and garnish with nuts or chocolate.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
