Description

This elegant Christmas smoked salmon cucumber appetizer is a simple yet festive bite-sized treat perfect for holiday gatherings. Thin slices of cucumber topped with creamy dill spread and smoked salmon create a refreshing and sophisticated starter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large English cucumber, thinly sliced into rounds
  • 8 oz smoked salmon, thinly sliced
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped (plus extra for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Capers for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cucumber: Wash the cucumber thoroughly and slice it into ¼-inch thick rounds. Pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. Make the dill cream cheese spread: In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, chopped dill, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  3. Assemble the appetizers: Spread a thin layer of the dill cream cheese mixture onto each cucumber slice.
  4. Top with smoked salmon: Add a small piece of smoked salmon on top of each cream cheese-covered cucumber slice.
  5. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle with additional chopped dill and a few capers if desired. Arrange on a platter and serve immediately for the best crispness.

Notes

Use high-quality smoked salmon for the best flavor. These can be prepared ahead and refrigerated for up to 2 hours before serving. Adjust seasonings to taste.
