Scale
For the Crust:
- For Cookie Layer:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- For Brownie Layer:
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan and line with parchment paper.
- Make the cookie layer: In a large bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix into wet ingredients. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Spread cookie dough evenly in the prepared pan, reserving 1 cup for topping.
- Make the brownie layer: Whisk melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until just combined.
- Pour brownie batter over cookie layer. Drop reserved cookie dough in small pieces on top.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
- Cool completely in pan before slicing into bars.
Notes
For extra gooeyness, slightly underbake. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.
