  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in egg, egg yolk, vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden. Centers will look slightly underbaked.
  8. Let cookies cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  10. Drizzle glaze over cooled cookies and let set before serving.

Notes

For extra orange flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon orange extract to the cookie dough. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
