Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in egg, egg yolk, vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden. Centers will look slightly underbaked.
- Let cookies cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Drizzle glaze over cooled cookies and let set before serving.
Notes
For extra orange flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon orange extract to the cookie dough. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
