  • 1 cupsoftened butter
  • 1 cupconfectioners’ sugar
  • 4 teaspoonsjuice from maraschino cherries
  • 1/2 cupfinely chopped maraschino cherries
  • 3/4 teaspoonalmond flavoring
  • 2 1/2 cupsall-purpose flour
  • 1package of dark chocolate Hershey’s Kisses
  • 1 cupconfectioners’ sugar (for the glaze)
  • 1 tablespoonwater (for the glaze)

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and confectioners’ sugar until light. Add cherry juice and almond flavoring; mix well.
  2. Gradually add flour until combined, then fold in chopped cherries.
  3. Roll into 1-inch balls, flatten slightly, and chill for 30 minutes.
  4. Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes. Press a chocolate kiss into each cookie while hot.
  5. Mix glaze ingredients and drizzle over cooled cookies.

Notes

For a vegan version, use plant-based butter and chocolate.Add extra cherry juice if the dough is too dry, or a bit more flour if it’s too sticky.
