A creamy and cheesy potato dish perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients

- 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 dash cayenne pepper
- 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated cheese
- to taste paprika
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In a small saucepan, melt butter; blend in flour and stir for 1 minute.
- Gradually add milk, stirring until smooth.
- Add salt, cayenne, and cheese; cook until cheese melts.
- In a 1 quart casserole dish, layer half the potatoes and half the sauce.
- Repeat layers with remaining potatoes and sauce.
- Sprinkle with paprika.
- Bake for 1 hour.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use heavy cream instead of milk.
