Description

A creamy and cheesy potato dish with garlic flavor, perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 dash cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese
  • 1/2 cup garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Grease a 1.5 quart casserole dish.
  3. Layer potatoes in the dish.
  4. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Mix in the flour and salt, and stir constantly with a whisk for one minute.
  5. Stir in milk. Cook until mixture has thickened.
  6. Stir in cheese all at once, and continue stirring until melted.
  7. Pour cheese over the potatoes, and cover the dish with aluminum foil.
  8. Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven.

Notes

For a crispier top, remove the foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
