- For the cheeseburger topping:
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- For the cheese sauce:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 tsp salt
- For garnish:
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup diced red onion
- 1/4 cup sliced pickles
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup yellow mustard
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Arrange tater tots in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and crispy.
- While tots bake, brown ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces. Drain excess fat.
- Add garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, Worcestershire, ketchup, and mustard to beef. Stir to combine and cook 2 more minutes. Set aside.
- Make cheese sauce: Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Cook until slightly thickened (3-4 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in cheddar cheese until melted. Season with salt.
- Assemble nachos: Spread crispy tots on serving platter. Top with beef mixture, then drizzle with cheese sauce.
- Garnish with lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, pickles, and drizzle with ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise.
- Serve immediately while warm.
Notes
For crispier tots, bake on a wire rack set over the baking sheet. Substitute ground turkey for a lighter version. Add jalapeños for spice. Leftovers reheat well in air fryer.
