For the Crust:

  • For the base:
  • 1 (32 oz) bag frozen tater tots
  • For the cheeseburger topping:
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • For the cheese sauce:
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • For garnish:
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup sliced pickles
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup yellow mustard
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Arrange tater tots in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and crispy.
  2. While tots bake, brown ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, Worcestershire, ketchup, and mustard to beef. Stir to combine and cook 2 more minutes. Set aside.
  4. Make cheese sauce: Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Cook until slightly thickened (3-4 minutes).
  5. Remove from heat and stir in cheddar cheese until melted. Season with salt.
  6. Assemble nachos: Spread crispy tots on serving platter. Top with beef mixture, then drizzle with cheese sauce.
  7. Garnish with lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, pickles, and drizzle with ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise.
  8. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

For crispier tots, bake on a wire rack set over the baking sheet. Substitute ground turkey for a lighter version. Add jalapeños for spice. Leftovers reheat well in air fryer.
