Ingredients

  • 1 lb sirloin steak
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tbsp blackening seasoning
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Directions

  1. Rub the steak generously with blackening seasoning on both sides. Let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over high heat. Sear the steak for 3-4 minutes on each side until charred. Remove and let rest.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter. Sauté garlic until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  4. Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook until pink, around 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. Pour in lemon juice and remaining butter, stirring until butter melts and forms a sauce.
  6. Slice steak against the grain and serve alongside shrimp, garnished with fresh parsley.

Recipe Notes

  • Adjust the level of spiciness by altering the amount of blackening seasoning.
  • For additional flavor, marinate shrimp in lemon juice and herbs for 10 minutes before cooking.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and used for a surf and turf sandwich the next day.
