Description
A classic holiday side dish with sweet potatoes topped with a crunchy pecan streusel.

- 4 cups mashed sweet potatoes
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Topping: 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix together the sweet potatoes, sugar, eggs, salt, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth. Pour into the prepared baking dish.
- In another bowl, mix the brown sugar, flour, melted butter, and pecans. Sprinkle the mixture over the sweet potatoes.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the topping is lightly browned.
Notes
For a nut-free version, omit the pecans and use oats instead.
