- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 6 tablespoons milk (for frosting)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
- 4 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 10×15-inch jelly roll pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
- In a saucepan, combine water, 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup peanut butter, and oil. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Pour peanut butter mixture into dry ingredients and mix well. Add eggs, buttermilk, and 1 teaspoon vanilla; stir until smooth.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- While cake is baking, prepare frosting: In a saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup peanut butter with milk. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Pour warm frosting over hot cake immediately after removing from oven. Spread evenly and let cool completely before serving.
